Why Is My BlackBerry Not Ringing?
- Your BlackBerry is pre-loaded with several sound profiles. The loud setting has the loudest ringer and alert tone volume. Alternatively, you can set your BlackBerry to quiet, normal volume, vibrate or off. When the sound profile is set to quiet or off, your phone will not ring.
- If your ringtone is corrupt or malfunctioning and your sound profile is configured to the ringer only without a vibration alert, it may seem as though your phone is not ringing. Change the ringtone and test the BlackBerry with an incoming call.
- Check your volume settings by pressing the "Vol Up" key on the side of the BlackBerry while the phone is on the idle screen, not in an active phone call. Pressing the volume key during an active call will adjust the speaker volume of the call itself, but will not impact the volume of the ringtone.
- If you have verified that all of the sound settings on your BlackBerry indicate that the phone should ring with incoming calls, contact technical support with your wireless carrier or the manufacturer, Research in Motion. The technical support staff can help identify the source of the problem, recommending repairs if necessary.
