Cookie Cake Decorating Ideas
- Cookie cut into a wedge
Bake cookie dough in a round pizza pan. After the cookie has baked, cut it into wedges. Decorate each wedge as a Christmas tree with a coating of green icing. Add red dots for ornaments and lines of yellow for lights. A yellow star sprinkle at the point of each wedge will serve as a star. Reassemble the cookies back together, but do not allow the sides to touch. (See References.) - Layered cookie cake
Stack three or more pizza pan-sized cookies on top of each other. Spread icing between the layers to act as glue. An option is to spread icing over the top and sides of the cookie cake when finished and decorate with candy sprinkles. - Candies can decorate a cookie cake instead of icing
Bake the cookie as directed in a shallow pan. Cover the top with icing. Use round, colored candies such as M&Ms or Skittles to create a design outline in the icing. Use different colors of candies to fill in areas of color in the design. For instance, a large smiley face can be made by spreading icing over the cake, then using brown or black candies to make a rim around the edge of the cookie and a smile and two eyes in the center. The rest of the surface of the cookie cake can be filled in with yellow candies, or left blank if yellow icing was used as a base. (See References.) - Pizza cookie cakes
After baking the cookie, allow to cool, top with red frosting. The frosting is the "sauce." Scatter sweetened shredded coconut over the "sauce" to represent mozzarella cheese. Add round circular candies, 1 inch diameter rounds of watermelon or small red cookies to represent pepperoni. (See References.)
