Women in Todays Society
From the days of Emmeline Pankhurstand the suffragette movement women have found it hard to fight for their place in society. Granted over the last few decades there are more women in politics, medicine, engineering and all of the male dominated professions. That being said more is needed to bring equality into the world today.
The majority of women need to work today but they are also the homemakers, the equal bread earners, and the nurturers, and all of this is placed on the shoulders of what is known as the weaker sex. Although women's roles have come on in the last few decades sill more needs to be done. It can be very hard and frustrating on women that while men now play a greater role in rearing children it is more likely that they turn to the mother when they are sick so this can be a handicap to women in the workplace as they sometimes have to stay at home with a sick child. As we now have equal pay should women feel guilty if they need to take the day off when their child is sick.
Women are known as the weaker sex but think about just how much they have to juggle in one day. Looking after the home and children as well as doing school runs dentist and doctors trips as well as doing a day's work outside the home. A women's frame may be smaller than men but her inner strength and determination outweighs the average male.
Society relies on women to bring children into the world, to teach them to be kind, generous, patient and to give back to society what they have received from their mother when their time comes to be a mother. It is a never-ending circle but that is what life is and if you do not have these feminine values in life then we are heading for ruin.
Women should have a place in society not the place of a man as both have different qualities but the qualities that women bring are as of equal importance as that of men, but just different. It is important that women understand how important they are in society and do not feel inadequate because they do not possess the physical strength of most men. From the time a girl is born, she has that feminine instinct. As a girl grows up, she naturally clings to dolls to nurture them as mothers nurture a baby. For women this is just a natural instinct and without this instinct, the world would be a colder place.
Men's place in society from day one was to hunt and gather for the women and children. As time progressed, it was his job to bring in the paycheck to feed and house the family. As society is changing women have to deal with what men used to do as well as doing all of the chores that are described as "Women's Work". However, the role of women in society is changing with every milestone that comes along. During the Second World War, women needed to work in the factories and the fields while the men went to fight the war. When the recession came many men, working in construction lost their job and as women tend to work in industries not affected by the recession this meant that, they became the breadwinners.
It is a good thing that women are gaining more recognition in society and hopefully there will be more of them in male roles as time goes on. However that being said we do not want to lose sight of the qualities that women bring to society and just hope that she will hold on to these values and pass them on to her daughters as what would the world be without these qualities.
