How to Open the Second Disc Drive on a Gateway Desktop DX4300
- 1). Insert a CD or DVD disc that contains files into the Gateway Desktop DX4300 computer CD/DVD drive.
- 2). Click the "Start" button on the Windows 7 Taskbar and click "Control Panel." Type "troubleshooting" in the "Search" box in the upper left corner of the "Control Panel" window that appears and then press the "Enter" key.
- 3). Click the "Troubleshooting" link and then click on the "View all" link. Click the "Playing and Burning CDs, DVDs, and Blu-ray Discs troubleshooter" item that appears in the list displayed.
- 4). Click the "Open" button when prompted. Click "Playing and Burning CDs, DVDs and Blu-ray Discs" and click "Next."
- 5). Click "Close" when the troubleshooter has completed diagnostics and then click the "Start" button on the Windows 7 Taskbar and click "Computer." Double-click on the second CD/DVD drive, if present, and confirm that you can view the files on the disc. If the second CD/DVD drive is not present or will not open, proceed to the next step.
- 6). Click the "Start" button on the Windows 7 Taskbar, right-click "Computer" and then click "Manage" in the menu that appears. Click "Device Manager" in the window that appears.
- 7). Click on the "DVD/CD-ROM drives" header in the right pane to expand it. Then right-click the second CD/DVD drive, click "Uninstall" and then click "OK." Reboot the computer.
- 8). Click the "Start" button on the Taskbar and click "Computer. Then double-click the second CD/DVD drive listed and confirm that you can now access files on the disc.
