Neuro linguistic programming has become one of the most sort after skills within business, sports, personal development and self management.
The context of NLP (Neuro linguistic programming) has become quite a gray area for one reason or another. Some believe NLP is a set of manipulative hypnotic techniques while others believe its the most powerful model and mindset for achieving excellence in what ever area you choose to focus your efforts upon.

SO what exactly is NLP?

NLP is a methodology of experimentation, wanton experimentation. Its a set of techniques and fundamentals that produce specific results. What does that exactly mean?
Neuro refers to the brain the mind, and how it work. Its the neurological process by which our senses direct us in what to do. Linguistic is the language we use to represent things to ourselves internally. Programming is how we have become programmed, the habits that we follow consciously and unconsciously on day to day basis.

The power of NLP is that it teaches us how to re-programme our neurology to a new set of habits that after practice and repetition become automatic. NLP allows anyone to become more competent and efficient in what ever they do.
There are many beliefs within NLP also known as presupposition of NLP one is everyone has all the resources they need to achieve their desired outcome. The power of NLP is that it focuses on strategy's that have proven to work and continue to work in a specific context and allow someone to implement and copy those strategies into their own nervous system.
The way this works is that if we think and believe the same way as some who is achieving something we want to achieve then we too will reap the same kind of rewards and achieve the same kind of results.

Alot of the techniques used within NLP are extremely powerful and were invented by Richard Bandler and John Grinder the two originators of NLP. Alot of the strategies and techniques they developed were based upon some of the worlds top therapist and people involved in change work with people. People such as Milton Erickson, Virgina Satir, Fritz Pearls and Gregory Bateson.

While there are many Powerful and life changing techniques in NLP such as anchoring, swish patterns, sleight of mouth techniques. I will go into some of these articles in another article however, the bottom line and power of NLP is that it is fundamentally about curiosity and wanton experimentation. NLP is about going out trying something, noticing whether it is working or not and keep trying ad changing until it works.
