Bollywood produces some of the biggest Hindi movies and the storylines have undergone major changes in the last decade. Scripts are more mature with complex characters while some deal with social and political issues while cinematography has evolved with the use of advanced techniques, new improved equipment. While every second movie now includes that crowd puller that is popularly called an "item song/number" where a popular actress or starlet dances to a song that is basically meant to titillate the audiences and garner press space before the film's release. Another notable feature commonly observed in latest Hindi movies is the presence of foreign locales that forms the crux of the script or has a "role" in one or two songs.

Bollywood's fascination with foreign lands is not new found; films of yore included foreign locations that would act as crowd pullers and bring to the masses the novelty of experiencing the vistas of a land sometimes beyond their reach. Latest Hindi movies however have a completely different take on the use of foreign locations in the plot by seamlessly merging these locales directly into the plot. Don 2 for instance, features Shahrukh Khan reprising his role as the Don who after successfully establishing his stronghold over Asian mafia sets his sights on European shores with existing European underworld leaders and all law enforcement agencies offering a glitch. The action shift to Kuala Lampur (KL) where Don dramatically surrenders himself to the cops post which he is remanded to a penitentiary that gave audiences a real-time glimpse of a KL prison where some of the most dangerous criminals are held captive. The action then shifts to Zurich and Berlin, as Don makes a stupendous escape with one-time arch enemy; Vardhaan. It is in Switzerland and Germany where elaborate car chases, detailed bank heists, etc. grip audiences and have them pinned to the edge of their seats as the foreign setup brings into the plot that exotic feel.

Jodi Breakers starring the unconventional pair of R. Madhavan and Bipasha Basu in the lead has more or less an Indian story set up; save for the elaborate song set in Greece that adds a rich texture to the movies plot and adds to the appeal of the well written storyline. Ek Main Aur Ekk Tu starring Kareena Kapoor and the affable Imran Khan has its entire first half shot in Las Vegas, replete with stunning visuals of the dazzling nightlife, casinos and bars among many others. It would not be wrong to add Sin City among the star cast as the basic premise of the film is based there.

Joining the ranks among latest hindi movies to be shot abroad is Ali Zafar's London Paris New York that effortlessly weaves in three iconic cities into the plot as he and the leading lady; Aditi Rao Hydari, discover themselves and love across a span of 8 years. The movie is a fresh take on new-age romance and has beautifully incorporated landmarks and breathtaking views into its lovable plot.

These latest Hindi movies have done exceptionally well and have box office collections to boast of, with the foreign locales playing a major part in its mass appeal, both in cities and rural areas.
