How to Make Table Paper Flowers
- 1). Cut out a large circle in one of your sheets of decorative paper, approximately 8 inches in diameter. The circle should have slightly scalloped edges for more natural-looking flowers. To do this, move your scissors back and forth as you cut to create a slightly uneven, natural edge.
- 2). Use your scissors to cut the paper circle into a spiral. Start at the outside edge of the circle and work your way inward. The edges of the spiral should be about 1/2 inch wide and stay consistent until you reach the center of the circle. Don’t cut in a straight circle or the flower won't look realistic. Cut a slightly bumpy or scalloped edge as you did when cutting out the circle.
- 3). Grab the outside tail of your spiral and fold it inward. Begin rolling the flower into a tightly coiled shape, working your way inward until you reach the center. Hold the coiled flower firmly as you form it: If you release the flower, it springs back and loses its shape.
- 4). Apply a bit of hot glue to the center of your paper coil. Attach the center of the coil to the bottom of the flower to secure it in place. Hold the flower for about 10 seconds until it dries.
- 5). Cut leaves out of green paper. Fold the inner tip of the leaf in an accordion fold and secure with a small blob of hot glue. To make an accordion fold, simply pinch the base of the leaf together between your thumb and forefinger until it folds slightly in half.
- 6). Cut a long stem out of floral wire and bend the end at a 90-degree angle. Apply a blob of hot glue to the underside of your flower and embed the folded part of the wire into the glue. Place the leaf directly on top of the wire to hide it and press it down until it dries in place.
- 7). Continue making flowers until you have enough flowers to fill a vase for your table. Or, alternatively, create a separate flower for each place setting.
