One of the greatest hits by Blink 182 'I Miss You' has been one of the best songs of its time.
The second single from their untitled or self titled album which was released in 2004 clearly showed the darker side of the band.
The song has lines such as 'Hello there the angel from my nightmare, the shadow in the background of the morgue..
..
' has changed the bands image from being a young humor filled band using foul toilet filled language to a much more serious and darker band.
'I miss you' has been standing strong at number 1 on the Billboard Modern Rock Chart since then.
Blink 182, an American band started off as a punk rock band.
The band initially consisted of three members, Tom De Longe, the bands lead guitarist as well as the lead singer, Mark Hoppus, the bands bassist and supporting vocalist and drummer Scott Raynor.
Scott Raynor was later replaced by Travis Barker in 1998 as the band got frustrated with Scott Raynor's major alcohol problem.
The bands' fifth release with drummer Travis Barker gave them instant popularity and completely changed their image of being a youthful foul-spirited band to a much sober and sinister band with songs such as 'Violence', 'All of this', 'Stockholm Syndrome' etc along with 'I miss you'.
One of the interesting things found while going through the Blink 182 I miss you lyrics is the mention of 'jack and sally'.
These are basically fictional characters found in the movie 'The Nightmare before Christmas' created by Tim Burton which depicts the love story between Jack and Sally.
Sally is created by a mad scientist by stitching various things together and Jack is a very dynamic person who is loved by everyone in the town.
The story shows how Sally saves Santa from Oogie Boogie, the Christmas villain and how Jack fights him in the end when he finally falls in love with her.
A small tiff amongst the band members of Blink 182 lead to a complete breakup of the band.
De Longe later formed his own band, Angels & Airwaves in 2005.
Their debut album 'We Don't Need to Whisper' was listed as number 4 on the Billboard 200.
Even though Blink 182 might have completely broken up, the songs 'I Miss You', ' Stockholm Syndrome' etc are still rated as the best dark punk songs ever.
