Whether you are entering from film school, high school or a middle age job seeker, breaking into the movies can look like a daunting task.
Excepts from an audio interview with 19 year Hollywood veteran Dan Turek tells how he got started.
Tip# 1 - Volunteer Dan says go find a local production company and volunteer to do anything on the set.
Run errands, clean up messes, serve food, anything to so you can be on the set and get your face recognized.
Tip# 2 - Show Up It is amazing to say, but Dan says if you just show up on time, you are ahead of the game.
Hollywood types are filled with flakes and flighty people.
Doing what you say you are going to do goes a long way.
Tip# 3 - Don't Take "No" for an Answer Be persistent in asking what you can do to help with a production.
No job is too small or too good for you.
Being the go to guy will get you noticed and remembered.
People hire who they like to work with, being the person that can get the job done will get you hired on the next movie.
Most leaders take their team with them where ever they go.
Be part of the team.
Tip# 4 - Be Prepared to Take Action If you don't know how to do a particular job, tell them up front but also tell them you are a quick study and are willing to learn and pitch right in.
