If 1st Mail Checker really was the first mail checker it has evolved well. Today, 1st Mail Checker is a modern, fast, stable and most of all useful mail checker.

1st Mail Checker not only notifies you about new messages (though there is room for improvement in this respect), you can also preview and delete the messages, and you can even write short emails or replies inside 1st Mail Checker.

Unfortunately, all this only works with POP accounts, and the filters you can use in 1st Mail Checker are limited (you can only delete mail with them based on keywords). The user profiles are nice, though with a multi-user operating system like Windows 2000 and later they shouldn't be necessary.
