Is It True That Picasso"s Artwork Could Improve Your Art?

In the beginning the only thing I wanted to do was pick up a paint brush and paint an art masterpiece. I never thought twice about learning to paint... I didn't listen to anybody. Also, what other artists were doing had no interest to me.

Does this seem recognizable? In many ways it should do...

This shouldn't distract you from your ambition to be a great artist. When you are 100% focused on creating your own painting style... nothing will stop you.

Magnificent... but what will happen as you hit the buffers and your artistic progress comes to a halt? As a beginner you are most likely to produce pictures that appear little better than a childish mess. Even good artists find themselves in circumstances where they cannot seem to reach professional standards.

One of the best ways to get better is to learn from other artists. Visit your local art gallery and take some time studying a favorite drawing or painting…

* Take a close look at the brushwork to see how the artist has made use of thin paint glazes
* Examine patches where thick paint has been applied
* Look where texture is utilized

Close study of any great artist, such as Picasso or Salvador Dali will help to improve the quality of your paintings...

* See the variety of colors
* See how the artist has toned down color by using white in the color mix
* Observe how a thin color glaze can alter color tone

It is important to take time understanding what makes an artwork worth looking at…

* It might be the picture's design
* The painting could show action and motion
* There might be shapes that contribute towards a sense of balance

Persevere in creating your best artwork... concentrate upon learning from the excellent qualities of the Master. Old Masters, like JMW Turner and Monet, took time to study their teachers and rivals. Without doubt, what learning they absorbed added to their artistic abilities and empowered them to produce unforgettable new masterpieces of Art.
