So I have reset my pointer. I'm using the same weight of clay but instead of 4 inches by 6 inches I am now 7 1/3 inches by 3 1/4 inches. That way I get a little bit wider and shorter. Same thing for centering and your pointer does not have to be out of the way for the center part. Again my left hand is the stable hand, my right hand is the doing the work. I'm going to go ahead and push that down into a contact lens shape, right there in the center. Now I'm pushing down with my left index finger. Because this is a bowl and not a cylinder I do want it to have a rounded interior so I'm leaving it kind of like lens and I would check the depth right at the center and it is just about a 1/4 of a inch. It is just what I want. So now we are ready to throw the bowl.
