Success Coaching Tip - Success Does Not Come To Those Who Worry
Worry is about thoughts.
Simply speaking, this is why success does not come to those who worry.
Robert Frost wrote:
The reason why worry kills more people than work is that more people worry than work.Frost recognized that worry is all about thoughts and thoughts by themselves do not create work.
A lack of work or action results in a lack of action.
And he also believe that your thoughts of worry could kill you because not taking action is not a healthy behavior.
How many people worry about this or that as they sit in front of the television or play games on the Internet?Their inability to take physical action is harming their overall well being.
Yes, we as human beings should have concerns about events happening around us.
With that being said, we also have the intelligence to focus on what we:
- Can control
- Can influence
- Cannot control or influence
They label the inner most one as What I can Control.
The next one is labeled What I Can Influence.
The outer most and largest one is labeled What Is Out of My Control.
Then I ask them to share with me the answer to this question:
When looking at your life, where do you spend most of your resources of time, energy and emotions? The response, 99.
9% of the time, is guess where?Yes, you are correct in that largest circle of what I cannot control.
When people realize that what they focus on creates their results, they quickly learn that they need to change their focus to improve their results.
However, they need to discover this on their own and that is why they draw the concentric circles.
We need to be engaged in the change that we desire.
Worry is outside of our control.
This is from someone who used to be an excessive worrier and even though I was active, I was not as active in relationship to my overall potential.
This is one reason why my overall success was not where it should have been.
When we worry, we redirect our potential into nothingness and a by-product is a lot of stress.
Self imposed limitations now become the standard thoughts.
Our behaviors become truly unhealthy.
As our worry increases, so do our stress levels.
This is not a good thing.
If you want more out of life, replace those worry, stressful thoughts with thoughts that direct you to make good choices and tough decisions over what you can control or influence.
For actions do speak louder than words.
Inactions such as excessive worry or stress will eventually kill you.
