How to Make Euphonium Mute
- 1). Place the funnel into the bell of the euphonium. It should sit freely inside with the lip of the funnel touching the lip of the euphonium bell. If the funnel is too large (and the lip does not reach the bell), use a smaller funner. A too-small funnel (that sits below the lip) can still be used.
- 2). Cut three pieces of cork and glue them evenly to the outsides of the funnel using the glue gun.
- 3). Use a razor to cut the top off the water cooler bottle.
- 4). Glue the cut water cooler top to the funnel creating a lid. Trim the edges with the razor if any hangs off, although you may desire some lid hanging off if creating a "cup" style mute.
- 5). Place the mute inside the bell of the euphonium so the cork sits lightly inside. There should be some space between the sides of the mute and the inside of the bell. If there isn't, remove the mute and attach thicker pieces of cork to the sides.
