How to Keep NetZero From Hijacking your Browser
- 1). Turn on your PC and log in as an Administrator.
- 2). Close your browser and disconnect your computer from the Internet. Run your anti-virus program to see if that gets rid of the virus. Delete or quarantine any viruses that are found.
- 3). Go to "Start " > " Run", and then type "regedit". Hit "Enter" to bring up the Registry.
- 4). Click on the folders located on the left of the menu to find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Policies\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Control Panel".
- 5). Look through the list of files on the right for anything named "ResetWebSettings" or "HomePage". Click on them and delete them if they exist.
- 6). Click on the folders on the left to find "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main".
- 7). Look at the files listed on the right to find "Default_Page_URL" and "Start Page". Make sure the URL matches your chosen default homepage and not netzero.com. If it says netzero.com, double-click on the file name and edit the URL.
- 8). Click on the folders located on the left of the menu to find "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main".
- 9). Look at the files listed on the right to find "Default_Page_URL" and "Start Page". Make sure the URL matches your chosen default homepage and not netzero.com. If it says netzero.com, double-click on the file name and edit the URL.

Click on the folders located on the left of the menu to find "HKEY_USERS\Default\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Main". - 11
Look once again at the files listed on the right to find "Default_Page_URL" and "Start Page". Make sure the URL matches your chosen default homepage and not Netzero.com. If it says netzero.com, double-click on the file name and edit the URL. - 12
Close the Registry and restart your computer.
