    • 1). Pick up, dust and wipe down areas that visitors are sure to see first, such as the cluttered paper on the kitchen counter, bathrooms in need of attention and loads of laundry.

    • 2). Move piles of laundry or papers to a central location where you can easily manage them.

    • 3). Plan to work your way through each room, starting with the living room or kitchen. After you complete tasks in the first room, move to the next room. If you live in a multilevel house, clean up one level before advancing to another level to save time.

    • 4). Put your dishwasher, washing machine, dryer and other machines to work to speed up your housework and save extra time while you focus on other tasks.

    • 5). Wash and change bedsheets and place your clean laundry in a central area, so you can fold them later.

    • 6). Soak hardened stains (for example, in microwaves and stoves) or use white vinegar or other cleaners to remove the stains more quickly while you clean other areas. Wipe off the stains from appliances (microwave, stove, refrigerator, appliances) when they are easier to remove.

    • 7). Keep trash bags nearby and toss papers, old food from the refrigerator and pantry, and other trash to get rid of them more quickly.

    • 8). Dust and wipe tables, furniture, stands and mirrors and remove cobwebs throughout your home.

    • 9). Vacuum, sweep and mop floors last to capture any dirt that accumulated while you were dusting and cleaning.

Fold your clean laundry and put it away as your floors dry.
