• Choose a shape for the invitation. Decide if the shower invitation will be in a cut-out shape of a lamb or simply have an image or graphic of a lamb printed onto it. Lamb shaped invitations can be made using a stencil (or paper template) and scissors. A to Z Teacher Stuff offers a free lamb template as does DLTK's Crafts for Kids. A die cut machine can also be used to cute out a lamb shaped invitation. For a small fee you can walk into many scrapbook stores and use their in-house die cut machines. Call the scrapbook store ahead of time and inquire if they have a lamb die cut shape. Also, ask if you are required to purchase their paper or if you can bring in your own paper to create the lamb shapes. If the invitation will have a simple lamb graphic or image printed on it, browse through your computer's clip art images. You can also search for free clip art images online by narrowing your search to "lamb" or even "Easter" (since lambs are often associated with Easter and used in Easter crafts). Lamb stickers or ink stamps may also be used to decorate the invitation and can be found at most scrapbooking stores or crafts supply stores.
  
  Once the overall shape and style of the invitation has been decided, make sure to purchase envelopes that will fit the invitation you have designed. Create a trial invitation, placing it in the envelope to make sure it will actually fit. Once you know the design of your invitation, have the appropriate envelopes, and have gathered all the supplies you need to make them, then detailed information can be added to the invitation. This information can be printed or handwritten (depending on preference) and will provide guests with pertinent information about the baby shower. If you decide to print the invitations, the cardstock can usually be run through a home printer. Include information such as the time and date of the baby shower, the location, directions and RSVP information. Depending on the wishes of the mother to be, information may also be included in regard to a baby store registry which is a location where guests can purchase gifts for the mother and baby. Once all of the information has been added to the shower invitation, embellishments may be added if desired. Ribbon, stickers and buttons are examples of items that can be added to a DIY invitation. After completed, place the lamb invitation into the coordinating envelope, address, add postage and mail. Invitations should be mailed two to three weeks prior to the baby shower date.
  
  

Considerations

• If you are using a lamb shaped invitation with printed information on it, print the text onto the cardstock prior to cutting it into the lamb shape. Attempting to run a piece of shaped cardstock through a home computer printer may cause it to jam or misprint.
