Argentina, a republic on the western coast of South America, offers many options with study abroad programs. The capital city of Buenos Aires and other cities in Argentina offer college study abroad programs, high school study abroad programs and language immersion programs. Studying abroard can help students become fluid in a second language and can create valuable cultural experiences. - Academic Programs International, also known as API, conducts intensive Spanish language courses in Argentina. The program usually runs for a semester and is designed for students of all levels. In addition to class time, the students at API are immersed in the Argentinean culture in order to learn as much conversational Spanish as possible.
API study abroad courses in Argentina take place in Buenos Aires, and API courses are offered through two universities: Universidad de Belgrano and Universidad Torcuarto di Tella. In addition to intensive Spanish, Latin American studies courses are offered in both Spanish and English.

The program immerses students in Argentinean culture by setting them up with a host family and enrolling them in a public high school in Argentina. The student may choose to stay for a semester or an academic year. According to the program's website, the experience leaves most teens fluent in Spanish and enriched culturally. The students may also transfer their earned high school credits back to their school in the United States. The deadline for fall registration through Green Travel typically is March 1.

They offer courses to international students who have already taken Spanish courses in college and can demonstrate a high level of fluency in the Spanish language. By being immersed into regular classes with Argentinean students, the exchange students learn about Argentinian culture, politics, social norms and communication style as well. The goal of the program is to have students speaking, reading and writing Spanish similar to a native Argentinean after their semester abroad.
