    • 1). Train the battery. Many people leave their MacBooks plugged in all the time. This eventually wears down the battery because it is constantly recharging itself little by little. If the MacBook is to be plugged in all the time, remove the battery to preserve its condition. If the battery needs to be used in the MacBook, use the computer on battery power until the computer tells you to plug it back in. Immediately after the battery is charged to 100 percent capacity, remove it from electrical power again and repeat the process.

    • 2). Dim the screen while on battery power. The brightness of the screen is directly related to battery life. When the screen is less bright, it uses less electrical power and makes the battery last longer.

    • 3). Turn off unneeded devices. Each peripheral device, whether internal or external, uses electrical power. For example, if the wireless network connection and Bluetooth are not being used, disabling them saves battery usage and makes it last longer between charges.
