How to Snell Fishing Hooks
- 1). Thread the end of the fishing line through the hook eyelet.
- 2). Loop the fishing line around and thread it through the eyelet again to form a large loop that easily fits over the bend in the hook.
- 3). Place the tag end of the fishing line along the hook shank. Wrap the line that forms the large loop nearest the tag end around the shank and the end of the fishing line, passing the loop over the hook bend each time. Make five or six full turns, spiraling toward the bend in the hook.
- 4). Wrap the line that forms the loop on the main line side around the tag end of the fishing line. Grip the knot with one hand and pull the main portion of the fishing line with the other to tighten the snell knot down and around the tag end of the line.
- 5). Trim the tag end close to the snell knot with the nail clippers.
