How to Draw an Old Person
- 1). Start by drawing the shape of a face. It can be a round, oval or rectangle face. None of these shapes is particularly " old" so have your pick.
- 2). Make the jaw sagging and tired-looking by drawing a softer jawline. Make sure there are a few missing teeth if this is a very old face. Draw the lips thin with small wrinkles around them.
- 3). Draw the eyes more than half way up on the face. One tactic is to draw the eyes closed to indicate sleeping or tiredness. Similarly, you can draw the eyes partially shut to indicate old age. Do not make them wide open and full of life, the purpose is to depict an old person. Adding eyeglasses or even a monocle will help to denote poor sight that often comes with old age.
- 4). Add some facial hair to an elderly man. Place a mustache directly underneath his nose. Give him thick eyebrows. Only add facial hair to the woman if she is very old.
- 5). Draw a thin layer of hair on top of the head for a woman and on top of the ears for a man. The top of the man's head should be bald to indicate his age.
- 6). Add wrinkles to the face, especially at the bottom of the face and around the eyes. The more wrinkles you draw, the older your face will look. Do not just place wrinkles in random places, put them in between facial muscles. Also add wrinkles to the neck to indicate an older person.
- 7). Put a hat on the head of your old person. Many old people, especially men, wear distinct hat styles that have not been popular for decades. An old-fashioned hat is a sure way to indicate the age of the person in your drawing.
