Operating System, Processor and System Memory

• The Compaq Presario 7594 has the revised edition of the Microsoft Windows 98 operating system called the Windows 98 Second Edition, or Windows 98 SE. This version of the OS included a replacement of the Internet Explorer 4.0 Web browser with IE 5.0.
  
  The processor is an Intel Celeron with a processing speed of 566 megahertz and a data transfer speed of 66 MHz. The amount of pre-installed system memory is 64 megabytes with a read access speed of 100 MHz. Users could upgrade the memory to 512 MB.
  
  

Media

• Each Compaq Presario 7594 has a 10-gigabyte hard disk drive, connecting with the computer using an Ultra DMA interface. The optical drive is a CD-ROM drive with a 40x read (playing) speed. Also included is a 3.5-inch 1.44-MB floppy disk drive.
  
  The audio driver of the Presario 7594 is an ESS Allegro sound card, which enables audio playback in digital formats such as MP3 and WMA. The graphics processor -- which is motherboard-integrated -- enables MPEG full-motion video playback with up to 8 MB of the computer's memory and 1,600 by 1,200 pixels in resolution.
  
  

Modem

• Each Compaq Presario 7594 has a modem that offered a data transfer speed of 56 kilobits per second and adhered to the International Telecommunication Union's v.90 standard. The modem takes one of the computer's four Peripheral Component Interconnect\ slots and has two corresponding RJ-11 phone jacks: one that served as an input and the other representing the output.
  
  

Physical Measurements and External Interfaces

• The Compaq Presario 7594 -- weighing 25.3 lbs. -- has a 16.55-inch height, 8.76-inch width and 17.3-inch depth. Besides the aforementioned RJ-11 ports, the external interfaces of the desktop PC includes four USB ports and nine-pin RS-232C and 25-pin parallel connectors for data transfer; MIDI port for connecting a PC gamepad or MIDI device such as a musical keyboard; PS/2 ports for the computer mouse and keyboard; VGA connector for connecting the computer monitor; and three audio jacks.
