View a Seinfeld Season - A Great Way to Do Entertainment
The sitcom was so popular that it lasted for nine years approximately.
Seinfeld finished in the top rung of the Arthur Nielsen media Research ratings when it was running on its sixth and ninth seasons.
From the years 1994 to 1998 it would be among the first two shows among the best.
Seinfeld was conceptualized and created by Larry David and Jerry Seinfeld himself.
The story is set in an apartment building in the Upper West Side of New York City.
Other than the author himself, there is Jason Alexander as George Costanza, Michael Richards as Cosmo Kramer and Julia Louis Dreyfus as Elaine Benes.
Seinfeld made its mark in the 1990s, considering the fact that unlike most of the other sitcoms in the 1990s the Seinfeld DVDs were a comprehensive set in all.
It was released by Sony Pictures Home Entertainment Ltd.
The Seinfeld DVDs contain quite comprehensive extras, including commentaries, a trivia track and short extras on quite a few episodes.
The seasons have been divided into volumes.
So Volume 1 contained Seinfeld Seasons 1 and 2.
Each subsequent volume contains a single Seinfeld season in it.
The show was first broadcast as The Seinfeld Chronicles on 5 July, 1989.
It received a very lukewarm response initially.
Rick Ludwin, head of late night and special events for NBC, sorted out finance from his budget, and the next four episodes ("Male Unbonding", "The Stake Out", "The Robbery", and "The Stock Tip") were shot.
After airing in 1990, the second Seinfeld season was rescheduled from its scheduled premiere of January 21, 1991 because the Persian Gulf War had started.
Season 4 is important because it witnessed the sitcom's entry into the Nielsen Ratings Top 30.
Seinfeld Season 5 was also very popular and marked high on the ratings list as it consisted of many popular episodes such as "The Mango", "The Puffy Shirt", etc.
In Season 6, Andy Ackerman replaced Tom Cherones as the director of the show.
This did not hamper the quality of the show and produced some of its most famous episodes, such as "The Fusilli Jerry", "The Chinese Woman", "The Jimmy", "The Face Painter", and "The Switch", etc.
The show's ratings high enough in its final two seasons (8 and 9), but its critical quality took a dip.
Larry David left at the end of Season 7, so Seinfeld assumed David's duties, and, with a new writing staff, Seinfeld became more of fast entertainment.
