On the CBS comedy The Big Bang Theory, Jim Parsons plays Sheldon Cooper, a genius theoretical physicist at Caltech and first-class nerd. Sheldon possesses vast scientific knowledge and is obsessed with comic books and science fiction, but he has difficulty with social interactions and understanding humor. Although he exhibits signs of certain mental disorders, Sheldon has made some strides socially, and even started a relationship of sorts with fellow awkward genius Amy Farrah Fowler.
