Each of these lines represent a string on your guitar-as you would see them if you were holding it, looking down.
The high-E string (the thinnest one) is the top line, and the low-E string (the thickest one) is the bottom line.
The numbers that appear on the lines are where you would hold down that string at a particular point-specifically, what fret you would hold down.
If the number is a "3," you would hold that string down at the third fret.
If it is a "0," you won't hold that string down at all.
If it is an "x," that string will be muted-not played at all.
