Alan Jackson - 2005 CMA Nominee Profile
ALAN JACKSON (Nominated for Entertainer and Male Vocalist of the Year.)
Born and raised in Newnan, Ga., Alan Jackson worked as a mechanic, a used car salesman and a forklift operator before moving to Nashville to pursue his dream of being a Country Music singer-songwriter. After a deal at Glen Campbell's publishing company, Jackson was the first artist signed to the Country division of Arista Records, which released his debut album Here In The Real World, featuring the No.
1 title track. Jackson has released 14 albums, which have sold more than 44 million copies that have yielded 31 No. 1 hits - including 21 he penned for himself (and not counting two additional chart-toppers he penned for fellow artists). He has received nearly 100 major industry awards, including 16 CMA Awards. Jackson has been nominated for 72 CMA Awards, more than any other artist. Jackson's songs strike a chord with working-class families. After the September 11th terrorist attacks, Jackson helped the nation mourn when he sang the poignant "Where Were You (When the World Stopped Turning)" during the 2001 CMA Awards. Other signature hits include "Chattahoochee," "Don't Rock The Jukebox," "Gone Country," "Livin' On Love" and "Remember When." Alan's current album is What I Do, and his current single is "In the USA Today."
