Steam Sterilizer Instructions
- 1). Wash dirt from the items using soap and water. Dirt can provide a shield for microorganisms against the heat of the steam and the sterilizer does not wash items, only heats them, so failure to clean adequately can negate the sterilizer's effect.
- 2). Fill the base section of the sterilizer to the line indicated by the word "Max."
- 3). Attach the basket section of the sterilizer. Arrange larger items such as bottles in the basket.
- 4). Attach the grill lid, a mesh-like section that fits at the top of the basket, over the basket and arrange smaller components such as the teats of baby's bottle on the grill.
- 5). Fit the lid securely over the top of the basket, making sure that it is sealed well in place.
- 6). Start the machine on its cycle. Often sterilizers have just one button to do this marked "Start," but models will vary and various cycles may be available depending upon the size of the load. Once the machine starts, it will cycle through automatically, heating the water into steam to sterilize the equipment. This usually takes between three and eight minutes.
- 7). Leave the machine working until the light switches off and wait three minutes for the equipment to cool down. Wash your hands, apply disposable or sterilized rubber gloves or use a pre-sterilized pair of tongs to remove the equipment.
