How To Remove Salt Stains From Carpet

    • 1). Vacuum the carpet to remove loose dirt and dried particles of salt. Any salt or soil remaining on the carpet will dissolve when you begin cleaning and will add to the time it takes to clean the stain.

    • 2). Mix equal parts white vinegar with warm water in a clean bowl or bucket.

    • 3). Wet a sponge in the vinegar and water mixture. Scrub the salt stain with the sponge. Let the cleaning solution sit on the carpet for fifteen minutes and then press a clean towel to absorb excess moisture.

    • 4). Dip the sponge back in the vinegar and water solution again and scrub the carpet. Press a new clean cloth to the area to lift more of the moisture and stain.

    • 5). Scrub the carpet with a clean, dry towel. Keep scrubbing until it is as dry as you can get it. If the air inside your home is very humid, aim a fan towards the carpet to speed drying.
