How to Draw a Blood Elf
- 1). Review your reference picture of a blood elf. You can find a reference picture by following the link in the resources section below. Make note of details which characterize the elf such as its special robe, long hair and pointed ears.
- 2). Sketch the basic outline of the blood elf. Draw a circle for its head, and pencil a line through the circle to map out the facial details. Sketch a line extending from the bottom of the circle to map out the spine. Create the torso and hips of the blood elf by drawing two squares along the spine. Make the elf's torso broad for a male and the hips wide for a female. Map out the arms and legs of the elf by sketching two lines extending from the torso and two lines extending from the hips.
- 3). Draw the basic outline of the elf using your rough draft as a guide. Sketch the outline of the ears onto the sides of the elf's head. For a male elf, use sharp lines to create the cheeks and jaw of the elf. For a female, use soft rounded lines on faces outline. Follow your spine to draw the torso, arms and legs of the elf. For males, make the shoulders broad, and exaggerate the size of the the pectorals. For females, keep the arms slender and focus on bringing out the curves of her body and legs. Draw her legs slightly longer than the males.
- 4). Pencil clothing and hair onto the elf. Follow the outline of the body to give the clothes a natural flow. Create the basic shape of the elf's robe, and map out the armor plates that cover over the cloth. Review your reference picture to capture the likeness of the robe. Overlap the layers of the lower part of the robe, and erase any part of the body that now is covered. Draw the blood elf's hair by following the shape of its head. Extend the hair past the elf's face, and part the bangs down the middle of the head. Create hair strands by drawing vertical lines in the outline of the hair.
- 5). Sketch the details of the blood elf's face. Draw the eyes using the previously drawb vertical guideline. For a male elf, make them small and slanted. For a female, draw them large and rounded. Do not draw pupils into the blood elf's eyes. Sketch the eyebrows long, extending the ends off the sides of its face. Sketch the nose of the elf pointed, mapping the bridge of the nose between the eyes. Draw the mouth with a smirk to capture the elf's haughty attitude. Draw the underlip of a female elf larger and more rounded than a males.
- 6). Erase the markings of your rough draft. Draw the details of the blood elf's clothing. Add the gold trimming to the elf's robe and armor, and sketch folds in the clothing for a more realistic look. Shade in parts of the robe that are red with middle tones and parts that are black with darker tones. Add accessories to the elf's costume such as weapons, gold ornaments and wrist ware.
- 7). Review your drawing and correct any mistakes. Darken the outline of your elf by tracing over your lines hard with a pencil. Erase any extra smudges and pencil markings found to complete your picture.
