Cat Furniture Instructions
- Cats are fantastic pets, but understanding cat thinking is one key to buying cat furniture that your pet will enjoy. Cats love to hide. They love to burst from a hiding space and pounce on another feline playmate, a human playmate, and on occasion an imaginary playmate. Although cats play at different times of the day, some cats will often play at the same time, for example early evening. Cats, especially male cats, can be territorial and this can sometimes be expressed through their play.
- For better or worse, cats are climbers. They tend not to like to enter spaces smaller than the width of their whiskers. Cats also have outstanding vision that can see small variances in movement.
- Rope-wrapped supports are easy to climb and long-wearing.
Choosing the ideal furniture will depend on the personality of your cat or cats. Because they love to hide and pounce on the unsuspecting, buying cat furniture with tubes large enough for them to get into and turn around in is often a good idea. Some cat furniture with large round tubes have holes in the side to give the cat a different exit, either when fleeing its nemesis or attacking the evil hand of the human. Make sure that the surfaces of the cat furniture are carpeted. This is both for safety and to give your cat a place more acceptable than the rug or sofa to sharpen its claws. Cat furniture with multiple levels and a combination of platforms and tubes is often good. Supports that are wrapped in rope are sometimes more conducive to feline climbing. Strings hanging from higher places often give your cat other visually interesting elements that can make for hours of entertainment. - Be aware of your cat's play times when placing furniture. If you have a pair of overly nocturnal cats who love to race around and play at 3 in the morning, putting the cat gym near human sleeping areas is a recipe for conflict. Place cat furniture and cat gyms strategically. If you have cabinets that are okay for cats, place the gym nearby to give them a route to higher ground.
