How to Hunt for a Job With a Low GPA
- 1). Include all of your education, experience and skills on your resume. Don't make mention of your GPA. Make sure you include your address, name and contact information on your resume.
- 2). List in your resume your grades from classes that relate to the job you are applying for if those marks are good. You are not required to list your GPA, but the marks from specific courses could improve your chance of securing a job.
- 3). Write a cover letter highlighting your skills and why you would be appropriate for the job for which you are applying. Leave out any information that relates to your GPA unless you only include classes relevant to the job and for which you received high grades.
- 4). Search for jobs that fit within your educational parameters. For example, if you graduated from high school with a low GPA, only apply for jobs that require you to have graduated from high school. Most employers won't request a copy of your transcript. However, if you apply for a job as a lawyer, you will likely need proof of your credentials, or you will be asked questions during an interview that you would only be able to answer if you have gone to law school.
- 5). Complete an internship to show to an employer that you have the discipline and ambition needed to be a valuable employee. You may also find volunteering a beneficial force in securing a job.
