Removal of Adhesive Tape Residue
- 1). Soften the adhesive residue with heat from a hairdryer. Position the hairdryer 3 inches from the surface and direct heat onto the residue for 30 seconds.
- 2). Scrape off the softened residue with a razor blade. Hold the blade at a 45-degree angle and apply light pressure to the blade. Remove as much gunk as possible.
- 3). Examine the surface for remaining sticky residue. If stubborn debris remains, spray water-dispersing lubricant onto the gunk. Leave the lubricant on the sticky gunk for five minutes.
- 4). Scrape off the remaining residue using the razor blade.
- 5). Dampen a clean rag with warm water. Wipe the rag over the surface to wash away any remaining film.
- 6). Dry the surface with a clean towel.
- 1). Scrape off the excess adhesive residue from the fabric using a butter knife. Remove as much residue as possible.
- 2). Moisten a clean rag with acetone-based nail polish remover. Rub the moistened rag over the fabric to dissolve and remove the remaining sticky residue.
- 3). Rinse the fabric with warm water to wash out the nail polish remover.
- 4). Examine the fabric for remaining adhesive residue. If sticky gunk remains, apply 1/2 tsp. of pre-wash stain remover to the affected fabric. Leave the stain remover on the fabric for the time span advised on the product's label.
- 5). Rinse the fabric with warm water to wash out the pre-wash stain remover.
- 6). Launder the fabric in a washing machine with hot water and laundry detergent. Substitute warm water for the hot water if so instructed on the fabric's care tag. Use the amount of detergent recommended on the product's label.
- 7). Let the fabric air-dry.
