Source Code is the best film to come out yet this year.
Colter Stevens (Jake Gyllenhaal) suddenly wakes up in someone else's body surrounded by people he doesn't know on a train headed for the city of Chicago.
Eight minutes later the train explodes killing everyone on board.
Colter then comes to find out that he is apart of some super secret government experiment where he is sent into an alternate reality of an incident that has already occurred.
This allows him to take the form of another person's body for the last eight minutes of their life.
During this eight minute window, Colter is to locate the bomb and it's bomber in order to prevent a real life disaster from occurring again.
Colter struggles along the way to gain the understanding of why he is in this mission and how he got away from his unit so fast.
Come to find out, he is virtually dead.
His actual body is in some sort of chamber that allows the government officials to use his brain in the source code.
The human story of Source Code is easy to get in to.
You feel for Colter not knowing that he's dead.
At one point in the alternate reality, Colter gets to call his father and talk to him one last time, quite emotional to think about.
You can also not blame him for falling in love with the girl (Michelle Monaghan) he meets on the train.
I would want to save her too if I were somehow in the same situation.
Vera Farmiga, who plays the captain that mainly communicates to Colter, does a fantastic job in her role.
You can see her feelings and emotions evolve throughout the film.
What she does in the end was very brave and caring.
She risks a lot by her actions but she has deemed them morally the right thing to do.
I think she made the right decision.
Jake Gyllenhaal gives a fantastic performance as Colter Stevens.
The movie also stars Michelle Monaghan, Vera Farmiga, and Jeffrey Wright.
Directed by Duncan Jones, who also directed Moon.
Overall, Source Code is the best film I've seen yet this year.
It's definitely more of an action film but it has enough of a love story that I think females would enjoy it as well.
I would highly recommend Source Code to anyone going to the theaters anytime soon.
4 out of 5 stars!!
