How to Install Inside Trim Wood

    • 1). Measure the wall out from one corner of the room to the end of the wall. Select a piece of trim wood that's longer than the measurement.

    • 2). Set the trim on your miter saw, standing in the same position as it will be on the wall (with the back of the trim standing against the back fence of the saw).

    • 3). Turn the miter blade to 45 degrees in, so it points at the main measured area of the trim. Cut it.

    • 4). Measure the trim from the newly cut end, back along the length of it. Mark the other end to be the same measurement you took from the wall.

    • 5). Set the piece back on the saw, this time with the opposite end of it in front of the blade. Turn the blade to 45 degrees in the opposite direction as it was before. Cut it.

    • 6). Follow the same procedure to measure and cut each of the other spans between each corner. Set the trim in place on the walls, with the miters butting at the corners. Install the trim with your trim nailer, shooting nails every foot or so along the upper and lower edges of each piece.
