How to Use Roundup on Viney Lawn Weeds
- 1). Locate the vines in the yard and follow the canes to their source. Sprinkle colored chalk around the source to know where to focus your Roundup spraying efforts.
- 2). Pick a dry day to spray your weed vines. Pick a type of Roundup that sprays as a foam and is safe to use on lawn, so that it will not kill your grass or ornamental plants. Place plastic around any nearby seedlings, because they often cannot tolerate herbicides.
- 3). Spray the leaves and canes of the vines with the foam. Wipe off with a wet towel any foam that makes contact with any ornamental plants or shrubs.
- 4). Monitor your plants for the next few days. Generally, the Roundup foam will begin to work after 24 hours. Pull the dead debris from yard and burn or throw away. Avoid placing weeds in your compost or their seeds can spread through out the yard.
- 5). Fill a seed spreader with your grass seed type. Distribute the seeds in any bald patches in the location of the weed vines. Cover the seeds with 1/8 of an inch of compost and water the area, so that the ground is moist rather than saturated.
