How to Stabilize a Plant Stand That Falls Over and Is Not Stable
- 1). Remove all plants from your plant stand so that you can work on the stand without fear of plants falling and injuring you or others.
- 2). Paint your cinder blocks with concrete paint that matches your decor. Although they will be visible on your plant stand, helping them to coordinate will make them less of an eye sore. Allow the paint to thoroughly dry before moving on.
- 3). Place cinder blocks in a single layer along the bottom shelf of the plant stand. Secure them to the frame using cable ties and then test the stability of your shelving unit. If it is still top heavy, add a second layer of cinder blocks in the same way.
- 4). Return your plants to the plant stand, placing heavier plants on the bottom and lighter plants on the top of the stand.
- 5). Install wall mounting brackets to your wall and use your cable ties to attach the plant stand to the wall if additional stability is needed once the plants are in place. This is especially important if you have small children or animals that could pull the plant stand on top of themselves.
