How to Plant Oriental Lily Bulbs
- 1). Select Oriental lily bulbs that are plump and do not yield when squeezed. Some roots should be attached.
- 2). Plant the bulbs soon after buying them, for better germination in the spring or fall. Find a sunny area of the garden that receives at least six hours of sun each day. Dig a hole five inches deep and place the bulb in the soil, so the roots face downward. You can plant the lilies in groups of up to five, planting each bulb, ten inches apart and each group, four feet apart.
- 3). Cover the bulbs with a thin layer of additional soil.
- 4). Water the bulbs and spread a layer of mulch on top, to retain moisture.
