How to Clean a GP100

    • 1). Press the cylinder release button on the left side and swing the cylinder out. Depress the ejector rod on the front of the cylinder to eject any cartridges from the chambers. Leave the cylinder open.

    • 2). Screw the patch jag into the cleaning rod. Wet a patch with solvent and attach it to the jag.

    • 3). Insert the patch into the muzzle and push it the full length of the barrel, five or six times.

    • 4). Wet a second patch with solvent. Clean each of the six chambers in the cylinder, in the same manner that you cleaned the barrel. Discard the patch.

    • 5). Unscrew the jag from the cleaning rod and replace it with the bronze brush. Insert the brush into the muzzle and push it the full length of the barrel, five or six times. Brush each of the six chambers in the cylinder.

    • 6). Remove the bronze brush from the cleaning rod, and replace it with the jag. Wet a patch with the solvent and push it through the barrel. Discard the patch. Wet a second patch and push it through each of the chambers. Discard that patch.

    • 7). Place a dry patch on the jag. Insert the patch into the muzzle and push it the full length of the barrel. Discard the patch.

    • 8). Place another dry patch on the jag, and wipe each of the six chambers in the cylinder. Discard the patch.

    • 9). Dampen the wiping cloth with CLP. Wipe the front and back of the cylinder with the cloth. Depress the ejector rod and wipe the ejector star (the part that lifts off the rear of the cylinder).

      Close the cylinder. Cock the hammer. Place two or three drops of CLP in the hammer well. Invert the revolver and place two drops of CLP in the trigger well. Hold your thumb on the hammer and lower the hammer while pulling the trigger. Repeat two or three times.

      Lower the hammer. Wipe all exterior metal surfaces with the wiping cloth.
