How to Drill Into Speaker Cabinets
- 1). Unscrew the speaker terminals on the rear of the cabinet, using the appropriate screwdriver type. Set the screws aside.
- 2). Examine the back of the terminal cup to see if there is a green circuit board attached to the rear. This is the crossover assembly for the speaker, and must be handled with care.
- 3). Pull the two leads off the rear of the terminal cup, if there is no crossover board present. Set aside the cup. Reach into the cabinet and gently begin to remove the stuffing, if present. Examine all four falls of the cabinet to ensure that there is nothing mounted to the intended drilling surface.
- 4). Insert the stuffing back into the cabinet. Push the metal leads back on the tabs on the terminal cup. Screw the terminal cup back into the back into the cabinet.
- 5). Drill into the center-most portion of the cabinet on the rear or bottom, in accordance with the amount of screws the mount or bracket requires.
