How to Replace a Taillight Lens on a 2007 Volvo XC90
- 1). Lower the bottom section of the tailgate and raise the glass part of the rear hatch.
- 2). Grab the corner of the carpet on the side of the XC90 on which you intend to change the taillight lens. Pull the carpet up and towards the front of the XC90.
- 3). Place the flat blade of a screwdriver under the plastic corner piece on the floor behind the assembly. Pry the corner piece upward and pull it from the floor.
- 4). Pull up on the tab on the base of the access door behind the lens to unlock it and out to remove the access door.
- 5). Loosen the two bolts holding the taillight assembly to the XC90 using a ratchet and socket. Pull the taillight assembly from the vehicle.
- 6). Turn all of the bulb sockets counterclockwise and pull them from the assembly, make note of where every socket plugged in. This frees the old assembly from the Volvo.
- 7). Plug all of the bulb sockets into the rear of the new taillight assembly and turn them clockwise to lock them into place.
- 8). Guide the two studs on the rear of the assembly into the holes in the rear of the XC90. Tighten the nuts onto the studs with a ratchet and socket.
- 9). Insert the top of the access door back in place over the taillight assembly and snap the bottom clip into place.

Put the plastic corner piece back into the floor and pull the carpeting back into place. Close the rear hatch.
