How to Paint a Solar System in a Bedroom
- 1). Draw the outline of the planets on the walls. Use a pencil and a compass in order to make perfect circles. You will also need to draw the sun and moons in your solar system. Spread out the planets throughout the walls of the entire room so they appear balanced.
- 2). Paint around the planets with a dark blue paint. You may also use black, but dark blue will be just as effective and not as gloomy as black. You may need to paint several coats of black paint to get an even finish. Overlap the blue or black paint with the outlines of the planets slightly, so that when you paint the planets on top of the black paint, you will entirely cover up the color of the white walls underneath. Wait for the paint to dry completely before moving on to the next step.
- 3). Splatter paint the walls with white paint by dipping a small paintbrush into white paint and flicking the paintbrush at the walls. You can also choose to paint the stars one by one, instead of splatter painting them. This will take longer but look more realistic.
- 4). Paint the planets. Each planet will start with a base color; for example, the earth would start as a blue circle, with green or brown continents painted over the blue water after it dries. Paint the base color first, and then whichever swirls or continents you wish to paint second. To create texture, use a sponge to paint the upper layers of paint on the planets.
- 5). Paint the sun, starting with a base coat of yellow paint. Paint swirls of orange paint on top of the yellow base, to give the sun depth and to make it more interesting.
