    • 1). Measure the distance between the hangers on your cooling unit. Make two marks on the ceiling that equal this distance directly above your grow space. If you are growing any vegetables or fruits, you will not be able to cover an area much bigger than 4 square feet with your 400-watt bulb. Screw in your eyehooks in the ceiling on each mark. Be sure they screw into studs.

    • 2). Attach your adjustable hangers to the eyehooks and attach the other ends of the hangers to the cooling unit.

    • 3). Mount your fan 3 feet from the cooling unit, on the side that the light does not screw into. Attach your ductwork to the fan and cooling unit with your duct tape.

    • 4). Use your cotton cloth to handle the high-pressure sodium bulb. Screw the bulb into the cooling unit and connect the cooling unit to the ballast. If oil from your skin gets on the bulb, it can heat up, causing the bulb to crack.

    • 5). Run your fan whenever your light is turned on. Keep the glass clean and position the light 6 inches away from the plants.
