How to Fix a Heater Blower in a 2002 Nissan Maxima
- 1). Disconnect the negative battery cable on the battery using a 10 mm wrench. Loosen the cable end bolt and twist the cable end as you pull it from the battery. Lay the cable aside to prevent accidental contact with the battery terminal.
- 2). Remove the lower dash trim panel, under the passenger side of the dash, using a screwdriver or 7 mm socket and ratchet to remove the bolts. Remove the passenger side kick panel by prying the plastic push clip out of the panel using a screwdriver. Lay the two panels aside.
- 3). Remove the glove box and glove box insert by removing the six 7 mm screws with a screwdriver or 7 mm socket and ratchet to remove the glove box door. Pull the insert out of the dash when the door has been removed. Set the door and insert aside.
- 4). Unplug the electrical connector on the blower motor. Remove the three screws that attach the motor to the evaporator case and slide the old motor out of the case.
- 5). Pry up on the retaining clip that holds the fan onto the old blower motor, then slide it back off the motor shaft to remove it. Transfer the fan from the old motor to the new motor and reinstall the retaining clip.
- 6). Install the new blower motor into the evaporator case and tighten the screws securely. Plug the electrical connector into the new motor. Reinstall the glove box insert and door. Reinstall the lower trim panel and kick panel. Reconnect the negative battery cable.
