How to Install a Radio in a 2001 Nissan Sentra
- 1). Disconnect the cable attached to the negative terminal of your car battery to reduce the risk of electrical shock while removing and installing car radios.
- 2). Pull out the top of the vent assembly to reveal the upper stereo area. If you have a tray located on top of the dashboard, you can easily make this area accessible by opening the compartment and pulling the metal ring of the compartment latch toward you. Otherwise, use a flat head screw driver to pry the assembly forward. Unscrew the top two screws of the radio harness.
- 3). Remove the lower half of the plastic trim below the air conditioner's controls by reaching around the sides toward the back. Wrap your fingers around the edges for a better grip and pull forward to detach.
- 4). Remove the bottom two screws that secure the metal harness . Pull the old unit and harness out carefully and unplug all the wires attached to the rear. Separate the radio from the harness.
- 5). Attach the new radio unit into the metal harness. If your unit needs an adapter or mounting hardware, install the necessary braces before positioning in the harness.
- 6). Reattach all the wires to your new car radio. Consult the manual for your unit to ensure that the necessary wires have been connected.
- 7). Secure the new radio unit and harness into the dashboard with screws. Reconnect the car battery and turn on your car to check that your new radio is powered and functioning properly.
- 8). Reattach the lower half of the trim by pushing it back firmly until it snaps into place. Reattach the top half of the trim the same way.
