How to Update Windows Mobile 6 Professional
- 1). Plug your Windows Mobile 6 Professional device into your computer using the same USB cable you use to sync it with your machine. This will cause the Windows Mobile Device Center to open on your monitor. Minimize it.
- 2). Open your Web browser and go to the Windows Mobile Update site (see References). Locate the update for your specific model of smart phone. You can search by either manufacturer or model. Once you locate the appropriate update for your device, click the "Available Now" link to go to the "Download" page.
- 3). Click the "Download Now" button to download the Windows Mobile update to your computer.
- 4). Double-click the Windows Mobile update file. Click "Next" and begin to advance through the installation process. You will see a series of windows that explain exactly what is about to happen, as well as warnings like "Do not power off your phone during this process." When the option becomes available, click "Start" to begin the update.
- 5). Watch for your Windows Mobile 6 phone to reset itself. A message will display on screen indicating the a hard reset is taking place. This indicates that the update process is finalizing. When you see your main menu again you can disconnect the device from your computer as the update is complete.
