    If LexisNexis HotDocs 2005 is Installed

    • 1). Click "Start," type "programs and features" and press "Enter."

    • 2). Select "LexisNexis HotDocs 2005" and click the "Uninstall" button.

    • 3). Wait for the uninstallation to complete, and restart the computer if prompted.

    • 4). Insert your PaperPort 11 CD.

    • 5). Click the "Remove" button and wait for the software removal process to finish.

    • 6). Click "Start," type "regedit" and press "Enter" to open the Registry Editor.

    • 7). Click the "+" icon next to "HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINES" to expand the key.

    • 8). Click the "+" icon next to the following entries to expand the subkeys:

      Software

      Zeon

      DocuCom

    • 9). Right-click the "ZNSL" key and select "Delete" from the drop-down menu. Click "Yes" to confirm that you want to delete the file.

      Click the red "x" in the upper right corner of the registry editor to exit, then restart the computer.

      Click "Start," select "Computer" and double-click the PaperPort 11 CD icon.

      Click "Start Installation" and follow the prompts to finish reinstalling PaperPort.

    If HotDocs is Not Installed

    • 1). Click "Start," type "regedit" and press "Enter."

    • 2). Click the "+" icon next to the following entries in the left pane:

      HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE

      Software

    • 3). Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and choose "Permissions."

    • 4). Tick the "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" check boxes for the following users and click "OK":

      Your user account

      Administrator

      Administrators

      Creater Owner

      Users

    • 5). Click the "+" icon next to the following entries in the left pane:

      HKEY_CURRENT_USER

      Software

    • 6). Right-click the "ScanSoft" key and choose "Permissions" from the drop-down menu.

    • 7). Tick the "FULL CONTROL" and "READ" check boxes for the following users, then click "OK":

      Your user account

      Administrator

      Administrators

      Creater Owner

      Users

    • 8). Click the red "x" in the upper right corner of the registry editor to exit.

    • 9). Download the PaperPort 11 Removal Tool and save it to your desktop (see Resources).

      Right-click the downloaded file and choose "Extract to." Select your Desktop and wait for the files to extract to a new, identically-named folder on your desktop.

      Double-click the new folder, double-click "Remover.exe" and click "Yes" to begin removal.

      Hold the "Windows" key and press "E" to open Windows Explorer.

      Double-click "Local Disk C:" and open the "Program Files" folder.

      Open the "ScanSoft" folder and delete the "PaperPort" folder, then close Windows Explorer.

      Click "Start," type "devices and printers" and press "Enter."

    • 16

      Right-click the PaperPort printer and choose "Delete." Click "Yes" to confirm removal.

    • 17

      Restart the computer and insert your PaperPort 11 CD.

      Click "Begin Installation" and follow the prompts to reinstall PaperPort 11.
