How to Use Fish Water to Water Plants
- 1). Fill a bucket or barrel 1/3 full of fish parts. This includes guts and bones. You may be able to get fish parts from fishermen or processing plants in your area.
- 2). Fill the container the rest of the way with water and cover the container. Open containers emit foul odors and attract insects and wild animals.
- 3). Mix the solution with a stick each day to speed decomposition. Fish emulsion is ready for use in two to four weeks.
- 4). Dip fish solution from the barrel with a bucket or pitcher.
- 5). Apply the solution to plants for a quick boost of nitrogen to encourage lush, green foliage and vigorous growth. An application rate of 1 gallon per 30-foot row is recommended, but you can use more or less depending on your needs.
