How do I Change a Valve Cover Gasket on a 2003 Mercedes Benz E 320?

    • 1). Open the hood of your E320 and secure it with the hood arm.

    • 2). Loosen the bolts on your valve cover by turning them counterclockwise with an 8 mm socket wrench.

    • 3). Pull the bolts out of the valve cover once they are loose enough to do so.

    • 4). Place your hands on either side of the valve cover and pull it up. As long as all the bolts have been removed, the valve cover will require very little force to remove.

    • 5). Pull the gasket from the valve cover box.

    • 6). Apply a thin line of sealant to the valve cover box. The sealant helps ensure that the valve cover gasket stays in place and adheres to the surface.

    • 7). Insert the new valve cover gasket and press it evenly and firmly around all the edges.

    • 8). Replace the valve cover and bolts. Tighten the bolts by turning your socket wrench clockwise.
