How to Make a Pink Conch Shell Electric Lamp
- 1). Measure the dimensions of your conch shell and then cut a thin piece of wood to act as the base for your lamp using a hand saw. Leave a few inches on all sides of the base to attach other decorative shells and glass stones.
- 2). Set the conch step on the board and mark where it sits on the board. This will help you know where to install the light fixture.
- 3). Drill a hole in the center of your board, large enough for the cord of your light fixture to fit through. Flip the board upside down and use a rotary tool to drill a shallow trench for the power cord leading from the hole you just drilled to the back of the board. The trench must be large enough for the wire to sit comfortably in the trench.
- 4). Stain the base and apply a varnish. Let the base dry as per the recommended directions on the varnish.
- 5). Mount the LED light to the base by installing the screws. Install the fixture so that the cord goes through the hole. Feed the wire underneath the base, so that it fits inside the trench. Screw the light bulb to the light fixture and plug in the light to test that it works.
- 6). Place the conch shell on the piece of wood so that it sits over top of the light that is installed.
- 7). Apply a bead of super glue to the edges of your other shells and glass beads. Stick them to the base of the lamp so they are scattered around the conch shell.
- 8). Set the lamp on a flat surface and plug it in -- the light in the middle of the conch shell will provide a soft glow.
