Platform Bed Instructions
- 1). Measure the width and length of your mattress.
- 2). Cut two beams to match the length of your mattress. Cut two more beams to match the width, minus three inches. For example, a 39-inch-wide twin mattress would need beams 36-inches long.
- 3). Cut the wooden sheet to match the length and width of your mattress.
- 4). Set the beams together in a rectangle. The ends of the short beams should abut the faces of the long beams. The width of the long beams accounts for the inches you shaved off the width measurement of your mattress.
- 5). Screw the beams together using two 3-inch wood screws in each corner. Drive the screws through the faces of the long beams and into the ends of the short beams.
- 6). Lay the plywood sheet on top of the rectangular frame. Screw it in place using one 1 1/2-inch wood screw at each corner.
- 7). Sand all visible faces of the lumber until they feel smooth to the touch.
